About

I love and specialise in hand-knitting in several capacities – design, pattern-writing, production, teaching, etc.

I am obsessed with keeping my hands busy, preferably with wool.  I am an American living in Scotland with my husband, where I enjoy weather that allows me to wear hand-knits on a mostly-daily basis.  I’ve completed my MA in Fashion and Textile Design at Heriot-Watt University, focusing on knitwear in a sustainable context, and now work and Hand-Knit Development & Production Coordinator for Eribé Knitwear Design in Galashiels.

I love teaching others to knit, crochet and sew and find that crafting/making is essential to a satisfying life.  This blog shows my adventures in knitting (and sewing).  You can find me on Ravelry and Twitter, and my website is  www.kristenorme.com – feel free to get in touch, I love comments and questions!

Wondering if we could have an email conversation about knitting and sustainability? I caught a comment you left on Kate Davies blog and I have some questions.

    Kristen,
I was so excited today to find your sweater on the cover of Knitscene. I remember sitting beside you at Panera when you were doing the finishing work on it. Many , many congratulations to you and your success! I feel like I met a celebrity! I hope you are happy and continue on in your great knitting career.

What say you?
