Classes and more classes!

Awhile back I mentioned the Knitting Basics class I’d be teaching at The Stitchery in Glasgow.  It was such fun!  We had some really keen students and everyone did so well!

I base my teaching around concepts and overall understanding, so that students have the confidence to read patterns and charts and understand the construction of knitting.  I want new knitters to leave my class ready and excited to start the next project!

The design for this class was based around learning a variety of techniques while making something useful, quick and fun.  We made fingerless mitts and in the 3 short sessions that we met, EVERYONE finished 1 whole mitt and most had begun their next!  I was so impressed.

I was too busy teaching to take pictures but Cassandra and Matthew were so kind to provide their photos of the classes.

The Stitchery Studio is such a perfect venue for these classes, we have tea and cakes, and a cosy room full of inspiring and amazing work.

The students paid attention so well!

Even Cassandra was inspired to participate and get her knitting out.  Here she is working on some adorable baby bloomers.

Imagine me now beaming with pride at their lovely finished mitts!

If you missed out on the last round of classes but are in the area, Cass & I are so excited to be hosting the class again!  We’ll be following the same course and making the same pattern so you already know what to expect!  It has moved to Saturdays now, beginning at the end of this month.  Find all the details on The Stitchery’s Facebook page, along with contact details if you’re interested in booking.

IMG_4802 If you’re not in the area or not able to take the class and are interested in knitting the mitts for yourself, you can purchase the pattern for the mitts through my Ravelry shop.  The mitts require just under 100g of aran-chunky weight yarn and feature garter & stockinette stitch, decreasing, increasing, picking-up-and-knitting, and mattress stitch seaming.  It’s a quick and fun pattern which I’ve really enjoyed knitting up!

Also, I Cass & I are doing another class together centred around the tailored blouse we did for Cloth Magazine.  Starting mid-November on Saturdays, we will begin the first session with the knitted collar (taught by me!), and the following 2 sessions will focus on the blouse (taught by Cass!).

All the details you will need to know are again on The Stitchery’s Facebook page.  Feel free to contact either myself of Cass at The Stitchery if you have any questions.  Hope to see you there!

Lastly, it you want to follow along with all the wonderful things The Stitchery is up to, have a peek at their newsletter!
