Minoru takes a hike (in the literal sense).

How many perfect days have you had?  They are pretty few and far between but so worth the wait when they come.  This past weekend T & I had a perfect day.  To give you an idea of how great it was, the worst thing that happened all day was the Costa Coffee barista at Waverly Station forgot to put a packet of brown sauce in with Trent’s bacon buttie.  Pretty awful, huh!  Well for what we didn’t then know was going to be a perfect day, we suited up for a wee hike.  Minoru came too, and boy did Minoru do well (for my irregular readers, Minoru is my most recent FO, the hooded jacket from Sewaholic Patterns)!

So we have what might be a lofty goal in mind to travel the Fife Coastal Path.  In seven parts – on separate attempts of course – we hope to walk from Inverkeithing to Newport-on-Tay (which is a total of 150 km I think?).

Leg  no. 2 (Burntisland to East Wemyss – 12 mi.) was up next, so we took the train from Waverly to Burntisland.

The view from Burntisland.

Across the Firth…Holyrood Park in the distance.

Not the clearest sign I’ve seen.

coffee break with… is that?…

Yes! It is! We had coffee with some seals in the vicinity.

We passed through Kirkcaldy fighting against wind, chill and light rain.  It was worth the battle because later, we had some lunch on the beach just as the sun began to come out.

A few more lovely pictures from our perfect day.

So how did we celebrate the completion of a 12-mile hike?  Only one way to do that: at a pub!  We headed back to Edinburgh for some pints & fish’n’chips at The Conan Doyle.  I am very much looking forward to our next leg of the journey, but my own legs need a bit of rest first.

It does sound like you had a wonderful day. That is a great idea – I love Fife, the sky is often filled with really lovely cloud patterns.
Your Minoru is awesome. It makes me want to make one, but I am trying to resist as I don’t really need one!

What gorgeous photos! And what a PERFECT way to end a day – with a visit to the pub and some fish & chips!!! Bliss!!! We’re travelling back to the UK to visit my parents in a few weeks, and I am going to head STRAIGHT for the fish & chip shop the minute we arrive! 🙂

What a gorgeous walk! On part 4 you have to stop at the Pittenweem Chip Shop – my husband’s cousins own it and he (obviously) swears by them!
