Obsessing with…

This weekend I am finding myself obsessively in love with 2×2 rib.  That’s right: Knit 2, Purl 2.  It is just so clean.  So pretty.

This WIP is the Mazarin hat pattern by my friend Jo.

You may remember this 2×2 rib from my Short Row Sweater from this post.

I think I may also be developing an obsession with grey.

Grey is just so versatile! I love it. That pink is lovely, though, and I’m not usually a fan of pink.

Kristen, what amazing colours altogether ….they are so calming & the wool looks so soft – perfect for these chilly days ….Looking forward to more inspiration 🙂

Elizabeth Zimmerman (may she rest in peace) wrote that 2 x 2 ribbing on sock legs won’t fall down around your ankles. I’ve started doing all my socks that way, reserving color work for the top of the foot — or inserting small bands of pattern among the ribs, or striping the ribs. It seems to work, no complaints about baggy ankles from anyone who’s worn them. I even run 2 x 2 for about 2 inches on the insoles, just after the ankle gusset is finished. It hugs the arch of your foot beautifully. I love the soft, heathery tones in your photos in this posting.
