1 for Spring, 1 for Winter

I’ve just finished 2 new patterns! The first is my Selkie Shawl which I had to pose on the beach in winter for! Brrrr! It turned out beautifully and was such a pleasure to knit! Selkies were creatures in seal form who tempted fishermen in the Orkney and Shetland Islands. Upon shedding their seal skin, Selkies would assume human form. A Selkie could only make contact with a human for a brief period of time, unless of course that human stole their seal skin. If you found a Selkie’s skin and hid it, that creature would be bound to you, and could not return to the sea. The Selkie Shawl pattern is available at K1 Yarns or Etsy It took 1 skein of our Selkie yarn which is a finer DK weight cashmere blend.

And since it is still freezing here in Edinburgh, I also made some convertible mitts, the Houndstooth Convertibles. They are slim and chic, and superwarm. It makes finding the bus-pass or accessing your iPhone so easy! Pattern is on Etsy, or you can also click the button below to buy it through Ravelry (even if you’re not a Ravelry member).

Kristen, I love your new designs. The color of the shawl is beautiful, too. And, how clever the convertible mittens are. I could have used those back in my days of catching the bus in the winter.

Kristen, such lovely designs! Looks like you have been quite busy! The weather is just now beginning to turn, starting to shape up to a nice Florida Spring. I’ve got tomatoes on my mind. Hope to plant those and peppers before week’s end. Love to you both!
